- The State Women Development and Social Welfare Department, Government of West Bengal has launched Kanyashree Prakalpa – a conditional cash transfer scheme.
- The main objective of this scheme is to improve the economic and social status of girl children in West Bengal by encouraging school education of all adolescent girls.
- Through this scheme, the government wants to delay the marriage of a girl child till the legal age of 18 years in the state. Kanyashree Prakalpa Yojana is a scheme sponsored by the state government which has been implemented in all the districts of the state.
- Kanyashree Prakalpa Scheme is started by the West Bengal government. It is a conditional Cash Transfer Scheme for the girls’ age group of 13 years to 19 years. This scheme is only for those girls who belong to economically backward sections.

- The applicant should be a permanent resident of West Bengal.
