In his budget speech, Finance Minister T Harish Rao announced in the Assembly on 8 March that the state government had already made a provision to release Rs 1,198 crore during March, to waive farmer loans up to Rs 25,000.

Plan Implementation
The Chief Minister of Telangana has said that an online portal will be developed to start activities related to the Telangana Crop Loan Waiver Scheme and through the implementation of the website many farmers will be able to register themselves under the scheme right from their homes. Banks will prepare a village-wise list of farmers with the outstanding loan amounts in a prescribed format. The report will be submitted to the concerned authorities. A district-level bankers’ committee meeting will be held before finalizing the eligible list of farmers and commencing check distribution to eligible farmers.

- As announced by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao in the State Assembly to fulfill his electoral promise, the crop loans up to Rs 25,000 will be waived off in the first phase.
- For all other eligible farmers, the outstanding loan amount Rs 25,000 up to Rs 1 lakh will be waived off in four installments over a period of the next four years.
