Through the Tatkal procedure, users may renew their expired or existing passports as well as apply for new ones. Note that applying for a passport remains mostly unchanged under the Tatkal scheme. However, this service is only available to those who have a legitimate reason for urgently obtaining a passport.

Passport Applications Types

One may apply for a passport using one of two formats. The application format, however, might vary based on the requirements and urgency of the applicant to get a passport. Below is a list of the two passport application categories.

Tatkal Passport Time

Unlike regular passport applications, Tatkal passport time applications usually go through a brief verification process. Passports are often issued and shipped to the correct applicant within 1-3 days of the application date. The date of application is defined as the day the applicant sent the required paperwork and supporting papers to the appropriate Passport Seva Kendra. Applications filed under the Tatkal program also guarantee prompt appointment and speedy processing through a dedicated queue.

If police verification is required, the applicant will receive the passport immediately on the third day excluding the application date. The passport will be dispatched immediately upon completion of the police verification process.

For a passport comprising of 60 pages Not Available (Only passports with 36 pages will be approved)

For persons aged 15 to 18 who require a passport for 5 years or until they turn 18:-

For a passport comprising of 60 pages Not Available (Only passports with 36 pages will be approved)

For persons aged 18 years and above:-

For a passport comprising of 36 pages INR 3,500
For a passport comprising of 60 pages INR 4,000

Passport Renewal

For a passport comprising of 60 pages Not Available (Only passports with 36 pages will be approved)
NOTE:- If a person’s passport is lost or damaged and has not expired, the fee for re-issuing the passport is Rs 5,000.

For persons aged 15 to 18 who require a passport for 5 years or until they turn 18:-
