Eligibility Criteria

To apply for Passport Renewal Online, the applicant has to fulfill the following eligibility criteria.

For Adults: You can request a passport renewal up to one year before your passport expires.
For Minor: Minor below 4 years of age: You can request for re-issuance once the validity period of five years expires or when you turn 18, whichever is earlier. Minors in the age group of 15 to 18 years are also eligible to apply for a passport with a validity of 10 years.

How To Register For Passport Renewal Online?

First of all, you have to visit the official website of the Passport Seva Portal.

On the home page, you have to click on New User Register.
Now a registration form will open, fill in all the details asked in the form such as
1. Passport Office
2. Name
3. Date of Birth
4. Email id
5. Login Id
6. Password
7. Enter captcha code
After filling in all the details, you have to click on Register.
Now an activation link will be sent to your registered email id.
Now, open your email and click on the link received to activate your account

Now the dashboard of your account will open on the screen.
You have to click on the View Saved and Submitted Application.
Then click on the Pay and Schedule Appointment link.
After scheduling the appointment slot, you need to make the payment online.
Additionally, the fees will vary depending on the type of application i.e. normal or tatkal, and the pages in your passport booklet. The following options are available for online payment:
1. Internet Banking (SBI and other associate banks)
2. Credit or Debit Card (Only Visa and MasterCard are acceptable)
3. SBI Bank Challan
