The Gujarat government has introduced the Suryashakti Kisan Yojana. Farmers will be allowed to generate power for captive use through the grid under this system, as well as sell the excess generated electricity to the government. The Gujarat government has introduced the Suryashakti Kisan Yojana. Farmers will be able to quadruple their revenue by placing solar panels on their fields to generate their power. Farmers can also sell excess produced power to the government via the grid. To implement this scheme, the state and central governments will provide farmers with a 60% subsidy on the cost of the project (establishing solar panels), 30% of the project cost will be provided to the farmer through a loan with an interest rate of 4.5% to 6%, and the remaining 5% project cost will be borne by the farmer.

The overall lifespan of this program will be 25 years, divided into seven and eighteen-year periods. Farmers will receive a unit rate of Rs 7 for the first 7 years and a unit rate of Rs 3.5 for the subsequent 18 years under the program. This initiative will assist around 12400 farmers from 33 regions. Aside from that, this strategy will provide 12 hours of electricity supply during the day.
