Electric Mobility Promotion Scheme:- The new Rs 500 crore project, which will boost the usage of electric vehicles in India through the end of July, began on April 1. To expedite the adoption of electric two-wheelers (e-2W) and three-wheelers (e-3W), as well as to further promote green mobility and the growth of the EV manufacturing ecosystem in the country, the Heavy Industries Ministry announced on March 13 the EMPS 2024, a fund-limited scheme with a total outlay of Rs 500 crore for four months, from April 1, 2024, to July 31, 2024. Electric Mobility Promotion Scheme 2024

To speed up the country to switch to electric vehicles (EVs), the Ministry of Heavy Industries has introduced the Rs 500 crore Electric Mobility Promotion Scheme 2024 (EMPS 2024). Under EMPS 2024, each two-wheeler will receive up to Rs 10,000 in assistance. The target is to provide support for about 3.33 lakh two-wheelers.

Objectives

The goal of the initiative is to help 3,72,215 EVs. The goal of the government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, EMPS 2024, is to establish a robust, efficient, and competitive electric vehicle manufacturing industry in India. This objective has guided the implementation of the Phased Manufacture Programme, which strengthens the EV supply chain and encourages local manufacturing. It would also lead to a significant rise in job opportunities along the value chain.

Electric Mobility Promotion Scheme Benefits

• The Ministry of Heavy Industries is introducing the INR 500 Cr Electric Mobility Promotion Scheme 2024 (EMPS 2024) to promote the broad use of electric vehicles (EVs).
• With a total expenditure of INR 500 CR, the EMPS 2024 plan will operate for four months, from April 1, 2024, to July 31, 2024.
• Assistance for the purchase of tiny three-wheelers (e-rickshaws and e-carts) would be given up to Rs 25,000.
• About 41,000 of these automobiles will receive incentives as part of the initiative.
• For a big three-wheeler, the maximum financial aid amount is Rs 50,000.

EMPS 2024 Features

• Customers who buy electric two- and three-wheelers are eligible for financial incentives under the EMPS 2024.
• EMPS 2024 aims to help around 3.33 lakh two-wheelers by offering up to Rs 10,000 in assistance to each vehicle.
• Up to Rs 25,000 in support for tiny three-wheelers like e-rickshaws and e-carts would benefit around 41,000 automobiles. Up to Rs 50,000 in financing may be available for bigger three-wheelers.

• To encourage new technology, incentives would only be available to automobiles with sophisticated batteries.
• Both two- and three-wheelers are eligible in this scheme.
