West Bengal Swasthyasathi Health Insurance Scheme
Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has announced a new health plan for the citizens of the state. Which is called Swasthya Sathi Yojana.
It will provide health insurance coverage to 100% of the state’s population. Through this scheme, financial assistance is provided to the people of the state for health-related treatment. In epidemics like Corona, the people of the state have gained a lot through this scheme.
This health plan has been implemented across the state from 1 December 2020.
The scheme will be 100% funded by the Government of Bengal. 7.5 crore people will be registered in the state under this scheme. Health-related services will become completely cashless through this scheme. Under this scheme, citizens will be provided with a smart card. This smart card will be applicable in all government and private hospitals of the state.

The main objective of this scheme launched by the state government is to provide cashless health Facilities to the citizens of the state. The scheme was launched in 2016 and under this, every family in the state was provided health insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh.
But now the government has taken this plan forward. To avail of this scheme, insurance cover will be provided after checking the family’s financial and social status. The health care provided under this scheme will be issued in the name of a female member of the family.
Eligibility Criteria
It is mandatory to have the following eligibility criteria for the application for the Swasthya Sathi Scheme.
- It is mandatory to be a permanent resident of the state.
- The smart card will be issued to women candidates only.
- Must not be enrolled under any other health care plan.
Features Of Swasthyasathi Health Insurance Scheme
- Under this scheme, each family is provided with a health insurance cover of up to 5 lakh Rs per year.
- Paperless, cashless facilities will be available for all treatments under this scheme.
- The parents of both spouses have also been included under this scheme.
- Under this scheme, the amount spent during treatment will be borne by the Government of Bengal.
- The smart card given under the Swasthya Yojana will contain the details of all the family members. Such as photo, biometric, address, mobile number, etc.

To apply for the Swasthya Sathi Scheme, the applicant has to complete the following online process.
- To apply for Swasthi Sati Yojana, you have to visit the official website of this scheme.
- On opening the homepage, you have to click on the option of online application
- Now when the new page opens, you have to enter the required details in the application form
- After this, you have to attach all the important documents on the application form online.
- Now you have to click on the submit option.
- Now your application will be completed.

Procedure To Do Hospital Registration
- First of all, you have to go to the official website of Swasthya Sathi Yojana.
- When the home page opens, you will need to click on the “Apply Online Tab”.
- After this, you have to click on the hospital registration.
- Now you will get the application form. In which you have to fill in the state name, district, type of hospital, category of the hospital, special name, hospital name, etc.
- After filling in all the types of information, you have to click on the submit option.
Now your registration will be completed.
