Goals of the Krishak Bandhu Scheme

The main goal of the West Bengal Krishak Bandhu Yojana launched by the West Bengal government is to provide financial assistance to the farmers of the state. Under the scheme, along with financial assistance, farmers will also be given life insurance of Rs 2 lakh. With the financial incentives of this government-initiated scheme, the families of the farmers of the state will become self-sufficient and will not have to depend on others for their needs. With the help of this scheme, the financial condition of the farming families of the state will also improve.

Advantages of Krishak Bandhu Scheme West Bengal

As West Bengal state Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has told many benefits of Krishak Bandhu Yojana, some benefits are as follows-:

• According to this scheme, each farmer of the state will be given life insurance of Rs. 200000.
• Insurance cover will be provided to all the farmers who died accidentally during the implementation process of this scheme in the state.
• Farmers of the state will be given crop insurance of Rs 5000 in two installments. One in Kharif and the other in Rabi season.
• A budget of 3 thousand crores has been set by the West Bengal government for the implementation of this scheme in the state.
• Insurance cover will be given to the victim’s family within 15 days after the victim’s death.
• Under this scheme, the crop insurance premiums will also be given by the state government to all the beneficiaries.

The aspect of the Krishak Bandhu Scheme

Following are the two elements of the West Bengal Krishak Bandhu Yojana-:

• Assured Income- Financial assistance will be provided to all those farmers who will be selected under this scheme according to the assured income. Following are two more options of this scheme.
  • Farmers with one or more acres of land get 5000 P.A. Rabi and Kharib will be provided for both seasons.
    • The first installment will be given to the farmers of the state in the month of June.
    • The second installment will be given to the farmers of the state in the month of November.
  • Also, farmers would be given minimum assistance of Rs. 2000 per annum on a pro-rata basis.
• Death Benefit- According to the death benefit scheme, families of farmers will be given Rs 200000 even if they commit suicide. All farmers of the state who are between 18 and 60 years of age can avail of this new insurance policy.
