Tripura Puno Baniya Scheme 2022
On 15th July 2022, the government of Tripura implemented Tripura Puno Baniya Scheme to promote the animal husbandry and to create employment in the state. Under this scheme, the state government will provide financial assistance to the unemployed youth of the indigenous community for goat farming. The financial assistance will be directly transferred into the beneficiary account.
Under this scheme, Gramin bank will grant the loan to the beneficiary. To generate more income for the tribal people, a credit-linked goat scheme is implemented where the members of the self-help group will get Rs 2,51,000 for a unit. An amount of Rs 25,100 will have to be paid by the beneficiary for each unit, while the state government will give a share of Rs 1,04,000 and the remaining Rs 1,25,500 will be credited to their accounts as loans. Once the beneficiaries start earning from the business, they can repay the loan through EMI of the income in 9 months with no installment payments.

- The state government has especially promoted goat rearing as goats are immune to various diseases and there is less chance of any heavy damage in business.
- The maintenance of food for goat farming is also less compared to other poultry and pig farming.
