On September 5, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin opened ‘Pudhumai Penn’ in Chennai. Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi, was also present. Bharathi Women’s College in Chennai had an event. Mr. Kejriwal awarded 26 schools of excellence and 15 model schools constructed by the Tamil Nadu government in imitation of his AAP administration in Delhi during the occasion.
As the name says, Pudhumai Penn means contemporary woman, hence the name of the plan has been retained to remind people that the initiative is about more than simply financial help. This Penn is part of a “revolutionary plan” that he says “is going to be pathbreaking and revolutionary in the next few years because of the wisdom to concentrate on modern times.”
The majority of citizens support improving and focusing on education. As a result, the state government has taken initiatives to promote education, one of which is the introduction of the Pudhumai Penn Scheme. This plan also prioritizes female inhabitants’ education. Mr. Stalin established the Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammayar Memorial ‘Puthumai Penn’ (Modern Woman) Scheme, which provided a monthly stipend of 1,000 rupees to female students who attended government schools from grades 6 to 12 and were interested in pursuing higher education.

Objectives
Because the country’s education system is degrading, most people favor the idea of modernizing and focusing on education. The project focuses on female students who require financial assistance to continue their education. This suggests that the program’s goal is to educate female citizens as well. This program, known as the Pudhumai Penn plan, is designed to help economically disadvantaged families who are unable to send their girls to college due to financial constraints. The Pudhumai Penn Scheme assists student ladies throughout critical professional times in their lives by providing them with a basic stipend of Rs 1000 to fund their studies.
Pudhumai Penn Scheme Benefits
The following is a list of the advantages of the Pudhumai Penn Scheme:
- The Pudhumai Penn Scheme is unique in that it emphasizes financial aid, encouraging female students to finish their education, and deterring parents and guardians from allowing their daughters to marry at an early age.
- Because of the vision to focus on current situations, the Puthumai Penn Scheme will usher in a new age of innovation in the next years.
- Female students seeking education will get a monetary incentive of Rs 1,000 each month until they have either graduated or received a certificate or diploma, regardless of field.
- Because it is widely known that female students in our nation are discouraged from obtaining an education, this program aims to increase young women’s confidence.
- The project, which has a budget of Rs 698 crore, intends to assist 6 lakh girls every year.
- Under Pudhumai Penn, funds would be transferred directly to student bank accounts to ensure their education. This means that there will be no middleman between the children and the bank when it comes to receiving money.
- The strategy avoids child marriages while also empowering women. They should refuse anything that offends their pride.
- Debit cards were given out to a total of 613 students during the initial phase of the plan.
- During the first phase of the plan, 613 pupils received debit cards.
