In 2018, the National Informatics Centre for the Department of Public Health and Preventive Medicine launched the PIMCE Scheme. PICME Stands for Pregnancy and Infant Cohort Monitoring and Evaluation. Under this scheme, the Tamil Nadu government has launched the Pregnancy self-registration portal. Pregnant/lactating women of Tamil Nadu can self-register themselves in this portal and through this portal government can track the needs and issues of pregnant women. Beneficiaries can register themselves by visiting government local hospitals, primary healthcare centres, and government-run healthcare facilities. After registration, the beneficiary will get 12 12-digit RCH id.

One beneficiary can get the benefits of this scheme only for the birth of 2 children. If the beneficiary registers herself within 12 weeks of pregnancy then she will get the first instalment of Rs 2,000.

Objectives Of PICME Registration

The objectives of the Tamil Nadu PICME Registration are:

  • Providing continuous antenatal care services to pregnant/lactating women.
  • To reduce maternal mortality and infant mortality.
  • Tracking high-risk mothers and timely intervention.

  • Once a woman is registered in the Pregnancy self-registration portal, the online pregnancy registration tool will assist the state in tracking the needs and issues of pregnant women.
  • The program connects such women to local hospitals, clinics, and government health institutions.
  • Under this scheme, the nurse will monitor the pregnant mothers to ensure the safety and health of the mother and child.
  • The beneficiary will get an RCH ID. RCH ID is required while applying for TN Birth Certificate. Thus, PICME registration simplifies birth certificates.
  • PICME registration will help pregnant women financially and medical facilities will be available.
  • Pregnant women can join the scheme after giving birth. Mothers can avail of this scheme for 2 children.

The eligibility criteria for Tamil Nadu PICME Registration are as follows:

  • Applicants must be a resident of Tamil Nadu state.
  • The applicant must be a pregnant woman.

PICME Registration Procedures

Pre-registration of pregnancy can be done in several different ways, all the ways are listed below:

  • Through the Pregnancy self-registration Portal, beneficiaries can self-register online. After self-registration, the beneficiary will get an acknowledgement and your Pre-registration ID.
  • Through e-Seva Centres, the government of tamil nadu has set up an e-Seva centre all across the state, Beneficiaries can visit the centre and the centre operator will help with PICME registration.
  • Through Call Centre (102), Pre-registration can be done over the phone by calling the toll-free number “102”.
  • Through Government Hospitals, beneficiaries can visit their nearest government hospital for pre-registration.

  • First of all, you have to visit the official website of the Pregnancy self-registration, Govt Of Tamil Nadu.

    3. Block No./Name
    4. Street No./Name
    5. Area Name
    6. District
    7. Administrative Unit
    8. Village
    9. Pincode
    10. Select Preferred Time to Visit VHN
    11. Select To Time
    12. Email id
    13. Mobile No
    14. Enter Pregnant Mother’s Mobile No
    15. Then click the Generate OTP button and enter the OTP that was sent to your registered mobile phone.
  • After filling in all the details, click on save.
  • Now you have successfully done the registration.
  • You will get an RCH ID of 12 digits and save it for future use.

  • Now enter the 12-digit PIMCE number and click on submit.
  • Now the application status will be on your screen.
