Successful prosecution of foreign patent applications in a single field of interest would result in a return of up to Rs 10 lakh. Objective

The Kerala government has announced the launch of the Kerala Patent Assistance Programme, which aims to encourage entrepreneurship and innovation in the state by covering the expenses paid by startups and students in obtaining national and international patents for their innovations. The action is a part of Kerala’s larger plan to foster an innovative and creative problem-solving culture. Utilizing the excellent resources and support provided by the State, the program will cover all patent applications filed through registered patent attorneys after November 9, 2015, with the goal of promoting innovation and entrepreneurship.

Benefits

  • Offering Rs 2 Lakhs for each Indian patent and Rs 10 Lakhs for each international patent is the program’s primary and most significant benefit.
  • This service does not include provisional patent filings, patent searches, drafts, and filings, preparation of claims, fast-tracking fees, prosecution of claims, or grant activities of prosecution against appellate authorities that have previously denied your claims for legitimate grounds. Patent Renewals are not either.
  • The plan solely supports patents as a kind of intellectual property rights—no copyrights, trademarks, or other.

Eligibility

  • The first is the date: Patent applications filed after November 9th, 2015, will be the only ones considered.
  • A proprietorship or limited liability partnership is the best type of legal structure for a startup company or a new business.
  • Programs are not available to innovators.
  • If they fulfill the conditions, student entrepreneurs can apply directly through their IEDCs for patent financing.
  • Within ten years of its incorporation, the new firm must register in Kerala and must have a Udyog Aadhar number in addition to a DIPP.
  • Financial assistance will only be available to students who are actively pursuing their academic objectives.
  • The program does not offer funding for the renewal of patents.
  • The program does not reimburse litigation against judicial review bodies that have previously denied a patent applicant’s claims.
