Inspire Scholarship Scheme:- Inspire Scholarship is a fully central government-backed scheme, started by the government of India to encourage meritorious young students to encourage them to study science from an early age. Students from all across India are eligible for this scheme.

Inspire Scholarship Scheme 

On 13th December 2008, the Department Of Science And Technology introduced the scheme Inspire Scholarship. Inspire stands for ‘Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research, as its names aim of this scheme is to encourage and attract meritorious students to study both basic and natural sciences at the college and university level and to pursue research careers in both basic and applied science areas including engineering, medicine, agriculture, and veterinary sciences through various components under INSPIRE.

Under this scheme, the state government provides various incentives and scholarships to attract students and help they can study well without any financial problems. Scholarships will be provided based on Class 12th standard examination results. The scholarship will be provided to only those students who must be pursuing courses in Natural and Basic Sciences at the B.Sc., B.S., and Int. M.Sc./M.S. level, doctorate.

The scholarship amount under the SHE component is `5,000/- p.m. (60,000/- per annum) + a Mentorship grant of 20,000/- per annum.

• The objective of the Inspire Scholarship Scheme is to encourage, promote, and attract students to science and innovation from an early age.

Key Points & Benefits Of Inspire Scholarship

• 13th November 2008 Inspire Scheme was launched by the Department of Science and Technology launched an innovation in Science in pursuit of inspired research.
• Under this scheme, the central government provides a scholarship of Rs 80000 to 10000 students.
• Under this scheme, the central government also offers various types of awards, internships, scholarships, and fellowships.
• Students will get benefits according to the marks they obtained in class 12 they do not have to appear in any kind of exam.

 3 Components Of Inspire Scholarship

1. Scheme for Early Attraction of Talent (SEATS)
   • The aim is to encourage and attract the youth talents to study science by providing INSPIRE Award of Rs 5000 to the students of Class VI to Class X standards.
   • The government of India also arranges summer camps for around 50,000 science students of class XI with global leaders in science to experience the joy of innovations through Inspire Internships annually.
2. Scholarship for Higher Education (SHE)
   • It aims to increase the engagement rates of students in pursuing higher education in science-intensive programs.
   • The salient feature of the scheme is the counseling support provided to each scholar.
   • Scholarships of 10,000 Scholarships every year to students in the age group 17-22 years, for undertaking Bachelor’s and Masters’s level education in natural sciences.
3. Assured Opportunity for Research Careers (AORC)
   • It aims to encourage, promote, and nurture talented young scientific human resources to strengthen the R&D foundation and base.
   • It has two components, in the first component i.e. INSPIRE fellowship, which is for students in the age group of 22-27 years, offers 1000 fellowships every year for pursuing a doctoral degree in both basic and applied sciences including engineering and medicine.
   • The second component i.e. INSPIRE Faculty Scheme, offers assured opportunity every year for 1000 post-doctoral researchers in the age group of 27-32 years, through contractual and tenure track positions for 5 years in both basic and applied sciences areas

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for the Inspire Scholarship Scheme are as follows:

• The applicant must be a resident of India.
• The age of the applicant should be between 17 years to 22 years.
• Meritorious Students with aggregate marks within the top 1% of their Class XII examination of any State/ Central Board (same year i.e. 2022) in India are eligible to apply.
• The student must pursue courses in Natural and Basic Sciences at the B.Sc., B.S., and Int. M.Sc./M.S. level.
• Those students who have secured ranks in the JEE of IIT, AIPMT, and NEET (within the top 10,000 ranks) are presently pursuing Natural and Basic Science courses in India at the B.Sc., B.S., Int. M.Sc./M.S.
  level.
• National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) scholars, Jagadish Bose National Science Talent Search (JBNSTS) scholars.
• International Olympiad medalists pursuing Bachelor/ Master level courses in Natural and Basic Science courses are also eligible.
• Students selected under Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana and pursuing Bachelor’s or Master’s level courses in Natural Sciences can also apply.

Documents Required

The following documents are needed to apply for the Inspire Scholarship Scheme:

• Class X certificate or any birth proof.
• Class XII certificate.
• Endorsement Form signed by the Principal of College/Director of Institute/Registrar of University.
• Certificate specifying Rank or Award in IIT-JEE/AIPMT/NEET /JBNSTS/ NTSE / International Olympic Medalists (Optional).
• Caste/ community certificate.
• Passport-size photograph.
• Mobile Number.

How To Register Into The Inspire Portal?

If you want to apply for the Inspire scholarship scheme then you must register in the portal and for that, you have to create a log-in first. Follow the given step to create a log_in id.

• First of all, you have to visit the official website of the Department of Science and Technology, Ministry of Science and Technology.
• On the homepage, you have to click on new user Register here.

• Now fill in all the details asked in the registration form such as :
