Kerala Sevana Pension:- Sewana Pension Scheme has been inaugurated by the Government of Kerala. Basically, it’s a pension scheme for poor people in the state. Through the implementation of the state, poor people can raise their living standards and can become financially stable and independent.

Sevana Pension 

The Sevana Pension has been launched by the Kerala government to provide financial assistance to poor people. With the help of the scheme, people will become independent as there will be a source of income. Under the scheme, the pension is been provided to people who are agricultural workers, disabled citizens, old age people, unmarried women above 50 years of age, and widowed citizens.

There are five types of pension schemes that are offered under Sevana pension. The pension amount under the pension scheme is Rs 1500 per month

The objective of Sevana Pension

The objectives of the scheme are as follows:-

• The main objective of Sevana Pension is to provide financial support to all those people in the state who are not financially strong.
• Under the Sevana Pension scheme, financial assistance will be provided in the form of a pension so that the beneficiaries can raise their living standards and fulfill their basic needs.
• This will help them in becoming more financially stable as there will be a source of income for them.

Pension under the Sevana Pension Scheme

Types of pension under the Sevana Pension are as follows:-

• Agricultural worker’s pension.
• Indira Gandhi National old-age pension.
• Indira Gandhi National disability pension scheme-mentally/physically challenged.
• Pension for unmarried women above 50 years of age.
• Indira Gandhi National widow pension scheme.

Agricultural worker pension

Agricultural worker pension is provided to laborers who are working in agricultural fields. Their  Sevana pension scheme was previously managed by the Department of labor of Kerala but now it is transferred to the local government according to the revised rules.

Indira Gandhi National old-age pension

• Under the Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme pension is provided to old people who do not have any source of financial support. With the help of the Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme, the old people of the state are not required to be dependent on others for their daily needs.
• Previously Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension scheme was managed by the Social Welfare Department but now the responsibility is transferred to the local government.

Indira Gandhi National disability pension scheme-mentally / physically challenged

Indira Gandhi National disability pension is provided to mentally or physically challenged citizens of Kerala. This pension is offered to those citizens who do not have any kind of financial support. To get the benefit of this scheme the applicant must have more than 40% disability.

Pension for unmarried women above 50 years of age

There are many women throughout the state who have attained 50 years of age and are still unmarried. These women do not have any kind of financial support. For all those women the Government of Kerala is providing a pension of Rs 1500 so that they can fulfill their daily needs.

Indira Gandhi National widow pension scheme

Indira Gandhi National widow pension scheme is offered to women who are widows and do not have any kind of financial support. In order to cope up with the financial issues, the Indira Gandhi National widow pension scheme was launched.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants need to pass the following eligibility criteria in order to enroll themselves:-

Agriculture worker pension-

•  The family income of the applicant must be at least Rs 1 lakh or less
•  The applicant’s age must be at least 60 years or more.
•  The applicant must be a permanent resident of Kerala residing for at least 10 years.
•   The applicant must have worked as agricultural labor for 10 years or more under the landlord. The property under the applicant or his family name should not be more than 2 acresApplicant should be a member of the agriculture worker welfare fund.

Indira Gandhi National old-age pension-

• The applicant should not possess property more than 2 acres.
• The annual family income of the applicant must not be more than 1 lakh rupees.
• The age of the applicant should be at least 60 years or more.

Indira Gandhi National old age pension over 50 years-

• The annual family income of the applicant should be Rs 1 lakh or less.
• Applicant should not possess more than 2 acres of land.
• The age of the applicant should be at least 60 years or more.

Indira Gandhi National disability pension-

• To apply for Sevana Pension the applicant must possess a medical certificate of disability/identity card which is issued by the social security mission.
• The applicant should not possess a property of more than 2 acres.
• The annual family income of the applicant should not be more than 1 lakh.

Indira Gandhi National widow pension-

• The applicant must be a permanent resident of Kerala for two consecutive years.
• The property of the applicant should not be more than 2 acres.
• The applicant must be a widow for at least seven years.
• Annual family income should not exceed Rs 100000

Application Process

Applicants need to follow the following steps for enrollment:-

• Firstly, download the pdf of the application form according to whichever group you belong to in case you are an Agriculture Worker so download the Agriculture Worker Scheme PDF and the same goes for all.
• After taking print out of the Pdf fill in all the required details and attach all the required documents and submit them to the concerned department.
