The Kerala Story 2023 Film
The Kerala Story is directed by Sudipto Sen and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah. Released on 5 May 2023, the movie sparked controversy and debate due to its bold storyline, which discussed love jihad, religious conversion, and how innocent females are duped into joining ISIS.
The film is based on the “love jihad” conspiracy theory and claims that hundreds of Kerala women are being converted to Islam and recruited into ISIS. The Indian National Congress and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) have also accused the filmmakers of slandering Kerala and promoting the Sangh Parivar’s agenda.

The Kerala Story Plot
The Kerala story is about a woman from Kerala, Fatima Ba (formerly Shalini Unnikrishnan), an ex-Hindu woman from Kerala. She shares her story of how she was abducted from her home and manipulated by religious vanguards being converted and forced into joining ISIS. She was eventually duped into joining ISIS and is currently imprisoned in Afghanistan.

Protest And Ban On The Kerala Story Film
For some, The Kerala Story is a propaganda film, while for others, it is based on a true story. The film is tax-free in states such as Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, however, it is banned in West Bengal.
