To support the economic progress of underprivileged populations, the Chief Minister of the state of Telangana launched a scheme that allows members of the Golla and Kurma castes to get a 75% subsidy off the cost of purchasing a sheep. Telangana Sheep Distribution Scheme’s first phase was discontinued due to the previous year’s severe coronavirus outbreak.
The staff in charge of this program has received instructions from the Chief Minister of the state of Telangana to resume the first phase. The financing for the project’s second phase will also soon be added to the budget, along with that. To give these communities financial support, the program’s first rollout will primarily concentrate on providing a flock of sheep to every member of the traditional shepherd villages. Objectives
The Golla and Kurma populations are considered economically deprived tribes. Thus, the members of this group have to face a lot of prejudices apart from other problems. Thus, the Telangana administration prepared a proposal. Keeping this in mind, the Telangana Government created the Telangana Sheep Distribution Scheme. The strategy calls for giving one unit of Sheet to each targeted area and the larger community, which will support the rural economy. The main objective of the implementation of this program is to improve the social and economic condition of the community.
Benefits
Delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic, the first phase of Telangana’s sheep distribution system will become operational in Nalgonda on January 16, 2021. A total of 28,335 applicants have requested the draft. This will provide them with 360 sheep units. Gola Kurma village will get the facility of lambs for eating from the government. Rs 4210 crore will be set aside in the state budget for 2019.
