KVPY – Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana: The Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana is a program conducted by IISc Banglore, Government of India every year. It is a nationwide program running since 1999. The program aims to identify and encourage highly talented and young minds in the field of science.

The objective of Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana is to help the student realize their academic as well as aptitude potential through an Aptitude Test and Interview. The selected students are given the fellowship and other perks like each KVPY Fellow is issued an Identity Card so as to have access to National Laboratories/ Universities who have agreed to extend special privileges like a library, laboratory facilities, etc. The Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana is divided into three courses such as –

  • Stream SA
  • Stream SX
  • Stream SB

KVPY – Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana Eligibility

As the KVPY scheme is divided into three courses i.e. 

  • Stream SA
  • Stream SX
  • Stream SB

The Eligibility of every stream is defined individually. And is  described below:

  • Stream SA – The students enrolled in class 11th during the current academic year and must have secured a minimum of 75% (65% for SC/ST/PWD) marks aggregate in MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE in class 10th immediately in the previous academic year.  And the student must score a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST/PWD) class 12th Board examination. During the interim period, the fellows will be invited to the National  Science (Vijyoshi) Camp and the travel and accommodation of the students will be taken care of by KVPY.

Note: Under this stream, the fellowship will be activated if and only if the student joins the undergraduate course in                basic science i.e. B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./Int. M.S.  and

  • Stream SX – The students enrolled in class 12th during the current academic year and will be joining undergraduate courses in Basic Sciences i.e. B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./Int. M.S. But the student must have scored a minimum of 75% (65% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate in MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE in the class 10th Board Examination.

Note: Under this stream, the fellowship will be activated if and only if the student has scored minimum marks of 60%            (50% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate in MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE.

  • Stream SB – The Student must be enrolled in the 1st year of an undergraduate program in Basic Sciences. The student must have secured minimum marks of 60% (50% for SC/ST/PWD) aggregate in MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE in class 12th Board Examination.

Note: The students who are enrolled or are pursuing the Distance Education scheme/correspondence course are not eligible.

KVPY – Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana Selection Procedure:

The eligible candidates will be awarded the fellowship and other perks according to the given selection procedure.

  1. Aptitude Test – The candidates will be called for the Aptitude Test which will happen all over the country and the exam will be available in two languages i.e. Hindi and English.
  2. Interview – The shortlisted students based on the merit list of the aptitude test will be called for the interview. And it is the final stage of the selection procedure.

KVPY – Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana Application Process:

The eligible candidates can apply online for the aptitude test. The KVPY officially has not opened the Application process.

Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana’s official website says that applications will be accepted soon and the website will be updated during the second week of July 2020. The opening of the application portal and the last date of the online application will be announced by the association soon. After the online application’s acceptance, the association will announce the examination date also.

The Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana is a national level fellowship program run by the IISc Banglore. The fellowship i.e. monthly fellowship and the Annual contingency Grant is described below-
