The Employees Health Assurance Scheme (EHAS) will be launched by the Government of Assam on 1 February. Under this scheme, around 4.3 lakh state government employees of Assam will get the benefit. Assam Employee Health Assurance Scheme was proposed by Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and started on 1 February. An employee serving under the Assam government can only avail of the benefits of the Employee Health Assurance Scheme, and in the future pensioners may also get the benefit of this scheme with certain requirements and conditions.

Under Employee Health Assurance Scheme, Assam Government will pay the insurance premium amount on behalf of the employee and pensioners to the insurance company. Under this scheme insurance company will pay all the expenses related to the health of state government employees.

In this scheme, beneficiaries get health insurance coverage of upto Rs 3 Lakh per annum. Newly recruited employee and their family and all the civil officers serving under the Assam government will also get the benefit of this scheme.

Assam Employee Health Assurance Scheme Benefits

  • Under the Employee Health Assurance Scheme, the Assam Government will pay the insurance premium amount on behalf of the employee and pensioners to the insurance company.
  • The Government employees who are on pension can also get the benefit of this scheme in the future.
  • The beneficiary will get cashless treatment through an insurance company.
  • A well-maintained hospital will also be made available by the Government of Assam for the beneficiaries.
  • The insurance package and benefits package will be introduced by the committee formed by the Department of Health and Family Welfare.
  • Benefits packages for sinister procedures like transplant surgery will also be included in the scheme.
  • Pre-existing diseases of beneficiaries will also get covered in this scheme.
  • Covid 19 is also covered in this scheme.
  • Ambulatory treatment will not cover in this scheme.

Types Of Benefit Package

  • Basic Benefit Package:- The basic benefit package costs include procedure, transplant costs, and room charges. In the Basic Benefit, the Package insurance company will pay all the treatment expenses as per the package cost, specified by the concerned organization and treatment expense availed by the beneficiaries in impaneled hospitals created by the Assam Government. 
  • The beneficiary will get insurance coverage of upto Rs 3 lakhs per annum during the block period of 3 years.
  • Addition Benefit Package:-  Additional benefits package includes insurance cover which will be given against catastrophic illness and all the diseases under this scheme will be covered from day one.

  • Government employees of Assam are eligible for this scheme.
  • Government pensioner employees can get the benefit of this scheme in the future.

Registration Procedure Of Employee Health Assurance Scheme 

Assam Government has not started any kind of online process/offline process of registration for the Assam Employee Health Assurance Scheme. All government employees of Assam will be automatically enrolled under this scheme by the Government of Assam.
