On March 4, 2024, the government unveiled the Chakshu Portal as a key defense against cyber fraud as part of the Sanchar Sathi initiative. As part of the Sanchar Saathi project, individuals can report suspected fraudulent communications intended to deceive telecom service consumers using the Chakshu Portal. Examples include fraudulent messages about payment wallets, SIM cards, bank accounts, and family members’ or government officials’ identities. To safeguard every citizen’s digital assets, the Chakshu Platform’s launch is a critical step. This technology should effectively prevent fraud and exploitation of the communication system. Integrating the new platforms with the Sanchar Saathi portal would make it easier for stakeholders to share intelligence in real-time. Through these measures, individuals have been able to preserve around Rs 1,000 crore in the previous nine months and freeze Rs 1,008 crore in bank accounts linked to unlawful activities. With the Chakshu portal, subscribers may report instances of mobile number leaks, and those responsible will face the proper penalties as promised.

The portal’s objective is to enable users to report instances where businesses have revealed their phone numbers, as well as calls and messages they think to be fraudulent. By facilitating information sharing between banks, other financial institutions, and law enforcement, the Department of Telecom has created the DIP to avoid fraud.

Chakshu Portal: Things You Can Report
- Check all connections made to cellphones under their name, and report those that are unnecessary or not approved.
- Make sure the mobile gadgets you purchase, whether new or old, are authentic.
- To enable tracking and blocking of lost or stolen mobile phones, report them.
- Review the information of authorized wireline Internet service providers.
- Report incoming international calls that have Indian phone numbers shown on the caller ID.
Report Fraud and Spam Calls
To report fraud and spam calls using the Chakshu portal, follow the steps given below:-
- Visit the ‘Sanchar Saathi’ Official Website i.e., sancharsaathi.gov.in.
- On the homepage, from the list of “Citizen Centric Services,” choose “Chakshu.”
- Then, read the disclaimer and learn about how to use “Chakshu,” click on “Continue for reporting.”
- After that, enter the information in the form, including the channel, kind, and date of the alleged fraudulent communication.
- Then, complete personal information.
- Finally, confirm using OTP, and file the complaint.
